Organizational Management in the Earthquake Disaster for Lawyers, the Public, and Society
On Friday, March 28, 2025, at 1:20 PM, an earthquake with its epicenter in Myanmar caused tremors across many areas of Thailand, particularly in Bangkok and its vicinity. The quake resulted in structural damage, including cracks and collapses of completed and under-construction buildings, crane failures, and building collapses, leading to numerous casualties and injuries.
This incident is considered a severe disaster affecting both lawyers and the general public. In response to this unexpected situation, Dr.Wichien Chubthaisong, President ofthe Lawyers Council of Thailand, implemented emergency management measures to support Lawyers Council members and the general public, as follows:

Lawyers Council of Thailand issued a statement mourning the loss of lives and expressing deep condolences. The Lawyers Council also offered free legal consultation and assistance to victims.
2. Friday, March 28, 2025
Lawyers Council of Thailandannounced financial aid for lawyers whose homes or offices were damaged, available through the Lawyers Council welfare fund.
3. Saturday, March 29, 2025
Lawyers Council of Thailand declared the closure of the Lawyers Council office on Monday, March 31, 2025, for structural inspection.
4. Monday, March 31, 2025
Dr. Wichien Chubthaisong (President), Mr. Soonthorn Payak (Secretary General), and Mr. Sanyapatchara Samart (Vice President,Execution Affair) led a structural inspection with civil engineers from the Department of Public Works and Town Planning, Ministry of Interior. The inspection confirmed no damage to the building’s structure, electrical systems, water supply, elevators, escalators, or fire exits.

Lawyers Council of Thailandannounced the inspection results, reassuring members and the public that the Lawyers Council office remains safe for use.
6. Tuesday, April 1, 2025
Lawyers Council of Thailandopened a Special Legal Aid Center to assist those injured, missing, or deceased in seeking compensation from insurance companies and relevant agencies.
